Kolkata: Amid violence in Murshidabad, National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar urged the state government to address the grievances of affected people of Murshidabad and also mentioned that the panel is preparing a report which will be submitted to the central government and top officials of the state.

“We don’t want to politicize the issue. We want to stand by the side of the affected women and families. For three days we have interacted with the victims. The women and the children are affected. We will make all efforts for the rehabilitation of the victims. We would urge the state government to hear the grievances of the victims,” said Rahatkar.
The chairperson of NCW also mentioned that the women complained that only BSF came for their help. “The women want BSF to be deployed there so that they can get security. In the next few days we will submit our report to the central government and top officials of the state,” further added Rahatkar.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in an open letter had appealed to the people of the state to maintain peace and integrity. Mamata accused that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies are carrying out disturbances in West Bengal. The West Bengal Chief Minister also alleged that the BJP is indulging in polarization on the basis of religion.
