In an emotional ceremony, the ashes of legendary Indian actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar were immersed in the sacred waters of the Ganges River on Saturday morning (April 12). The ritual took place at Brahma Kund, Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar, in the presence of close family members and relatives.
The final rites were performed with full Vedic rituals, as the chants of mantras echoed across the riverbanks. Manoj Kumar's sons, Kunal Goswami and Vishal Goswami, led the ceremony under the guidance of the family priest.
Speaking after the immersion, Kunal Goswami said, "The ashes have been immersed in the Ganges, and we pray for the peace of his soul through the blessings of Mother Ganga."

Manoj Kumar, born Harikrishan Goswami on July 24, 1937, in Abbottabad (now in Pakistan), passed away on April 4 at the age of 87 after a prolonged illness. He breathed his last at 4:03 am at Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
The cinematic icon, known for his patriotic films like Upkar, Purab Aur Paschim, and Kranti, was not only a celebrated actor but also a visionary filmmaker whose legacy continues to inspire generations of Indian cinema lovers.

Manoj Kumar was cremated with full state honours on April 5 in Mumbai. His wife Shashi Goswami, son Kunal Goswami, and other close family members were present during the ceremonial state honours, paying their final respects to the actor.
Manoj Kumar was admitted to the hospital on February 21 after his health deteriorated, and after over a month-long battle, he succumbed on Friday.
As per reports, he died due to a massive heart attack. He had also been battling decompensated liver cirrhosis in recent months, which aggravated his poor health condition.
Some of Manoj Kumar's best films include Shaheed (1965), Upkar (1967), Purab Aur Paschim (1970) and Roti Kapda Aur Makaan (1974), many of which he also directed. His performance in Upkar solidified his patriotic image, leading to his famous nickname.
Beyond his patriotic films, he starred in several other acclaimed movies, including Hariyali Aur Raasta, Woh Kaun Thi, Himalaya Ki God Mein, Do Badan, Patthar Ke Sanam, Neel Kamal and Kranti.
