Sepahijala: A Karnataka resident has been arrested for assisting his Bangladeshi girlfriend in illegally entering Tripura. The man has been identified as Datta Yadav, a contractor from Bidar.
According to reports, the 35-year-old woman, Gulshana Akhtar, had previously worked at a beauty parlour in Mumbai and later at a private firm in Bengaluru, where she met Yadav. The two entered into a relationship during her stay in India. After Akhtar returned to Bangladesh, Yadav reportedly wanted her to come back.
On Wednesday, Akhtar crossed into Tripura without valid documentation. Acting on a tip-off, the Border Security Force (BSF) arrested the couple the following day in Tripura’s Sepahijala district.
