Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 35-year-old woman died while four people, including two boys, sustained injuries after an old tree fell on its own on the road near Narsingh Vatika Garden under Aerodrome police station limits on Friday evening.
Due to the tree fall, the entire route was blocked and people were stuck in traffic congestion for hours. The police and municipal corporation officials reached the spot and diverted the traffic after sending the injured to the hospital. Thereafter, the fallen tree was removed after cutting it, and the traffic on the road resumed.
Aerodrome police station in-charge Tarun Singh Bhati said that the tree fell on its own and five people were injured in the incident. The injured have been identified as Jamnalal Kumawat (60), a resident of Ashok Nagar; Santosh Bokare (39), a resident of Ambe Nagar in Sukhliya; his wife Kavita Bokare (35); and their sons Pradhyuman Bokare (12) and Kavansh Bokare (10).
They were rushed to the hospital, where Kavita succumbed to her injuries late on Friday night.
Tree falls on moving bike
The tree fell on a moving bike when a family of four was returning from Bijasan Mata Temple after offering prayers on the occasion of Navratri. The injured Kavansh said that they were going on the bike when the tree suddenly fell on them, leaving his parents and brother severely injured, while he escaped with minor injuries.
