Lucknow: Samajwadi Party MP and national president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday questioned the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government over the alleged lack of facilities for kanwariyas. Yadav claimed that the government had failed to provide proper arrangements for the kanwariyas, which is why it was now busy issuing QR codes instead.
Yadav appealed to the government to issue an order directing top authorities to focus on food and health arrangements for Kanwar yatris walking during the holy month of Shravan.
"CO aur SDM ko lagao unke pair dabane ke liye (Deploy the CO and SDM to massage their feet). This will perhaps give them relief and the authorities will get some virtues, this is our Vedic custom,” Yadav told reporters.

"Barcodes, QR codes and AI technology are all a diversion because this government could not build a proper corridor for kanwariyas with facilities for their rest and food. I would like to ask the government to deploy commissioner, DM and SP for the service of the kanwariyas, while CO and SDM should be deployed for foot massaging of kanwariyas. If officers like CO and SDM give foot massages to kanwariyas, it will earn them some good deeds. The CM is issuing QR codes. Along with it, he should also issue a government order stating that DMs and SPs will take care of the food and health facilities while COs and SDMs will give foot massages to the kanwariyas,” Yadav said while speaking to reporters.
