Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav launched a sharp attack on the Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday, questioning its development vision and accusing it of systemic failures across sectors. Speaking to the media at a school event in Lucknow, Yadav described the Chief Minister as a “copycat” of Delhi’s political model and criticised the practice of keeping legislators in session for 24 hours, calling it “inhuman.”
He alleged that the government lacked a genuine vision for development, claiming its focus was on exploitation rather than progress. According to Yadav, the education system is under strain, with quality compromised. He also alleged widespread corruption in every department.
Highlighting specific cases, Yadav said the government failed to support Parag Dairy, which could have processed five lakh litres of milk daily, and allowed projects like the ITI and cancer centre to remain incomplete even after nine years. He criticised the condition of the Purvanchal and Bundelkhand Expressways, claiming they had turned into pothole-ridden stretches, while market encroachments had reduced the utility of the Agra-Lucknow and Jaipur- Lucknow Expressways.
Yadav extended his criticism to foreign policy, stating that relations with the United States had deteriorated, leading to tariff impositions. On defence, he dismissed recent technology announcements as “showmanship” and criticised the Agniveer recruitment scheme for providing inadequate training time.He further claimed that by 2027, internal conflicts would surface within the ruling party, well before the 2047 vision timeline. Yadav also questioned the absence of concrete policies for pet animals, arguing that a truly developed society must address the needs of all sections, including animal welfare.
