Teach Self-Care Skills to Young Children: Every parent wants their child to become self-reliant and learn to do their own small and big tasks. But sometimes love and excessive help make children dependent on others. If a three-year-old child tries to put on his shoes by himself and the parents immediately help him, then he will start depending on them again and again. But if he gets a chance to do it himself with a little motivation and patience, then he can learn this work himself.

Making children self-reliant is not a difficult task. If they start at the right time and in the right way, then they can gradually learn to take care of themselves, keep things organized, and take responsibility. Here we are telling some easy and effective tips, with the help of which you can instill the habit of self-reliance in your child from the very beginning.
How to teach young children to do their work-
Start with small tasks.
Give the child small tasks in the beginning, like collecting his toys, keeping books in the right place, or keeping his plate in the sink after eating. When the child sees that he can do something on his own, he gains confidence and learns to take responsibility.
Involve him in daily work.
Involve the child in the daily tasks of the house. Like folding clothes, watering the plants, filling his water bottle, etc. This will not only keep him busy, but he will also feel that he is a responsible part of the family.
Do not help again and again.
Often, parents do even small tasks for their children themselves, which increases the dependency of the children. Let the child wear his shoes, prepare his school bag, or dress himself. Even though the work may be slow in the beginning, this method makes them self-reliant.
Let them make mistakes.
If the child makes a mistake, do not scold him immediately. Allow him to understand and improve himself. This will increase his confidence, and he will work more responsibly next time.
Appreciate
When the child does any work by himself, praise him. Sentences like "Wow! You kept the plate yourself today", will inspire him to do the work himself in the future as well. Praise gives a positive direction to the behavior of children.
Teach playfully.
If the child is not interested in any work, then teach him like a game. For example, make a game of 'finding treasure' for keeping the toys in the right place, or give a small reward for getting ready on his own. This will make learning fun for him.
Be patient and give time.
Every child is different, and it can take time to adopt any habit. So be patient and gradually encourage him to become self-reliant. He will learn only when he tries.

If these tips are adopted in everyday life, then the child learns to take responsibility for himself from the very beginning. Later on, this habit helps in making him a responsible, sensible, and self-reliant person. Small efforts of parents can bring a big change in the lives of children. All that is needed is some guidance, time and courage.
