Aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant on Monday acknowledged the guidance and influence of Ashish Nehra after surviving a horrific car accident, saying the former India pacer's advice to stay happy helped him a lot during difficult times. Pant was involved in an accident on the Delhi-Dehradun road on the night of December 30, 2022.

Pant is participating in IPL 2025 and is captaining Lucknow Super Giants. Pant was bought by Lucknow for Rs 27 crore in the mega auction for IPL 2025. Pant's bat has not performed well this IPL season so far. Lucknow is scheduled to face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Tuesday.
Pant was a victim of an accident in 2022
Pant's car caught fire. He was seriously injured in this accident. He needed several surgeries to recover from it. Pant said that he has been my senior teammate in my club. When he saw me, he came to me and said that I had also suffered a lot of injuries, all you can do is keep yourself happy. Do the thing that makes you happy. He said, I think this advice was very useful for me and it helped me a lot in recovering from my injury.

Pant had to undergo a year of rigorous rehabilitation after surgery. He returned to competitive cricket during the IPL last year and then made his international comeback in the T20 World Cup held in the USA and the West Indies. Pant was part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup. After this, he also got a place in the Test team.
