Wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni can once again be seen captaining Chennai Super Kings (CSK). CSK is to face Delhi Capitals at home on Saturday. Regular captain Rituraj Gaikwad suffered an elbow injury during the match against Rajasthan Royals and if he is not fit for the match against Delhi, Dhoni can be seen taking over the command.

Decision on Rituraj's playing will be taken before the match.
Before the match against Delhi, CSK batting coach Mike Hussey has confirmed that Gaikwad's fitness has been assessed on Friday. The final decision on his playing in the match will be taken on the day of the match. When asked if the team is thinking of a caretaker captain? Hussey indicated that a 'young' player behind the wicket could captain Saturday's match.

Injured against Rajasthan
Rituraj was injured while batting during the match against Rajasthan on March 30. Even after so much time has passed, Rituraj has not been able to get fully fit yet. Hussey said I don't think we are thinking much about captaincy right now. I am sure there must have been a discussion between Stephen Fleming and Rituraj, but we have a young player (Dhoni). He stays behind the wicket and maybe he can do this job well
Hussey said, 'I am not sure, he has a lot of experience in this role. So maybe he can do this job. Honestly, I cannot say much about this. ' Dhoni last captained CSK in 2023 when the team became champion for the fifth time. Dhoni left the command of CSK just before the last season and Rituraj was given this responsibility.
