Vikram Phadnis has spent 35 remarkable years redefining Indian fashion. From his humble beginnings as a choreographer to becoming one of Bollywood’s most respected designers and now a filmmaker, Phadnis has had quite a journey in showbiz. To mark this milestone, he presented a showcase titled Ananta, a tribute to his evolution and his craft. The event held last month was graced by her dear friends and had Salman Khan as the showstopper.

Looking back at his journey, Vikram told us, “Thirty-five years… it’s been a roller-coaster ride. From being a fashion choreographer to a designer, and now a filmmaker — there have been highs and lows, but every step taught me something valuable.”

Vikram fondly recalled the people who stood by him when fashion wasn’t yet celebrated in India. "Mehr Jesia, Hemant Trivedi, Kunal Kapoor, and of course, Salman himself. They believed in me and pushed me to pursue my dreams," he said.

As Salman added that special touch to the event, Vikram added, "I am who I am because of only one man, and that is Salman. He gave me a platform, a voice, and an identity. He has been with me since the early days. So he had to be the obvious choice. ”

Through the years, his design philosophy has constantly evolved. “ I reinvent myself with every collection. Over the years, I’ve learned to understand my clients - their tastes, their preferences, what they seek. I know the balance between demand and supply, and how to stay connected to what people actually want to wear. For me, the idea is to stay relevant to the way people live and dress today, while still keeping storytelling alive through fashion and craft.”
