Actors Jackky Bhagnani and Rakul Preet Singh were recognised as the Fit India Couple by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports during the Fit India Cult Yogathon, held at Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi on World Yoga Day (June 21).
The event was organised under the Fit India Movement , which promotes regular physical activity and mindful living. The title was presented by Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Sports Minister.
As part of the day’s activities, the couple joined thousands across India in a collective effort to complete one million Surya Namaskars . In Delhi, over 1,500 people participated in the Yogathon, which also featured sessions on meditation and Yoga Nidra led by trained instructors.
Speaking at the event, Bhagnani said, “Yoga has always been more than just exercise for me. It helps create a balance between the body and mind.” He added that the practice encourages a more centred approach to everyday life.
Rakul Preet Singh echoed similar views, saying, “Yoga teaches us to live more mindfully and stay connected to our surroundings.” Referring to this year’s Yoga Day theme, ‘ Yoga for One Earth, One Health ’, she said, “Our well-being is deeply connected to the environment. When we care for nature, we care for ourselves.”
The event aimed to promote the integration of yoga into daily routines, emphasising its role in improving overall health and awareness.
