Cricket star Yuvraj Singh and actress Hazel Keech, known for her role in Bodyguard, have shared more than a decade of togetherness. The former Indian all-rounder recently appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show, where he fondly looked back on the journey of their relationship.
He recalled that their story began when he first noticed Hazel at a friend’s party and was immediately drawn to her. However, his initial attraction met with resistance—Hazel remained elusive for nearly three and a half years, refusing to even meet him despite his repeated efforts.
"“She didn’t care to even show me her face for about 3.5 years,” Yuvraj recalled. “I requested her so many times, but she just wouldn’t meet me.." he revealed.
When she finally agreed, Yuvraj was charmed not just by her appearance but by her unique personality. He humorously shared that her confident walk caught his eye and convinced him she was unlike anyone he had met before.
Yuvraj’s early attempts at winning her over, however, didn’t go as planned. During one of his conversations, he messaged her saying he was unwell, hoping to get a sympathetic response, only to receive a curt “Good luck.” That lighthearted yet indifferent reply made him realize how unpredictable she was, prompting him to step back for a while.
But destiny seemed determined to bring them together. Yuvraj later discovered that Hazel was acquainted with one of his close friends. Jokingly, he told his friend to maintain distance from her because, as he confidently claimed, he would eventually marry her. Years passed, and then came the turning point—Hazel finally accepted his Facebook friend request after three and a half years. Thrilled by this, Yuvraj humorously sent a folded-hands emoji to express gratitude, and that marked the beginning of their first real meeting.
Even then, the journey wasn’t easy. Hazel made him wait another year before she finally agreed to a relationship. Their long and patient courtship culminated in a beautiful engagement in 2015, followed by a lavish Sikh-Hindu wedding the next year. After their marriage, Hazel embraced the name Gurbasant Kaur. The couple now share a happy family life with their two children—a son, Orion, born in January 2022, and a daughter, Aura, born in August 2023.
