Actor Rashmika Mandanna, widely known for her love of K-pop and K-dramas, recently delighted fans with some candid revelations about her current watchlist, during a spontaneous Instagram Q&A session. The Pushpa star, who has often shown her admiration for Korean culture — famously sending finger hearts at fan events — shared her favourite K-drama and a Chinese series that she absolutely “loved.”
After a brief period of inactivity on social media, Rashmika returned with a mini interaction session with her followers, explaining, “I was inactive for a while. My team was handling my account. But now I’m back. What did I miss?” As fans poured into her DMs, one particular question caught her attention — a request for Korean drama recommendations. That’s when Rashmika opened up about the shows she’s been hooked on lately.
Rashmika's All-Time Favourite K-Drama?
Rashmika revealed that among the many K-dramas she has watched, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, starring Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Ye Ji, remains her all-time favourite. “Most favorite, hmmmm… Almost every series I’ve watched, so it’s really hard to pick. But if I really have to, then I’d say, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” she wrote. The popular Netflix drama, praised for its deep emotional storytelling, revolves around a psychiatric caregiver and a children’s book author with emotional scars. Kim Soo Hyun’s portrayal of Moon Gang Tae, a man caring for his autistic brother, was widely applauded, with the show earning a nomination for Best TV Mini-Series at the International Emmy Awards.
In the same conversation, Rashmika also opened up about her growing interest in Chinese dramas. When asked to pick her favourite among Hidden Love, The First Frost, and The Best Thing, she didn’t hesitate to name the Bai Jingting and Zhang Ruonan starrer. “There’s this Chinese drama which I looooooved called The First Frost… so cuteeee it was!” she exclaimed.
What Is ‘The First Frost’ About?
The Chinese series The First Frost has quickly become a fan-favourite on Netflix India. Adapted from a novel by Zhu Yi, the show is a spin-off of the highly praised Hidden Love. While Hidden Love focused on the story of Sang Zhi and Duan Jiaxu, The First Frost shifts the spotlight to Sang Zhi’s elder brother, Sang Yan. The story follows Sang Yan, a bar owner, and Wen Yifan, a journalist — former high school sweethearts — who unexpectedly reunite and find themselves living together. As Sang Yan learns about Wen Yifan’s sleepwalking, which stems from past trauma, the two slowly rebuild their bond. Viewers have particularly praised the mature storytelling and the chemistry between Bai Jingting and Zhang Ruonan.
Adding more to her watchlist, Rashmika said she had recently completed watching the rom-com Love Scout, featuring Han Ji Min and Lee Jun Hyuk. The drama flips traditional gender roles, with Ji Min playing a CEO and Jun Hyuk as her diligent secretary. She also mentioned starting a new show titled Undercover High School, a spy-action comedy starring Seo Kang Joon and Jin Ki Joo.
