Can't call any part of India as Pakistan: SC

Send Push
Supreme Court on Wednesday said that calling any part of India " Pakistan" is "fundamentally contrary to the country's territorial integrity".

The observation was made by a five-member bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud during the resumed hearing of a suo motu cognisance of the remarks made by justice V Srishananda of Karnataka High Court.

The judge had, earlier this month, referred to a particular locality in Bengaluru as "Pakistan". SC issued a strong note of caution for judges asking them to ensure that their "personal biases and predispositions" do not reflect while discharging their duties. The Judge had, last week, apologised for his statements.
