Dewald Brevis praised MS Dhoni for his humble demeanour after sharing the Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) dressing room with the former India captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The South African batter joined the Men in Yellow midway through the IPL for INR 2.2 crore, replacing the injured Gurjapneet Singh.
Brevis said that the door to Dhoni's room is always open except when he is sleeping. The right-handed batter mentioned that he went to the wicketkeeper-batter's room on several occasions during the tournament and knew about his hobbies while also watching cricket matches.
“I’ll always remember like, whenever I tell people it’s amazing. I had amazing times, my four years [in IPL]. It was incredible. And I had to go through all of the journey like it’s been beautiful, and the one thing that I can just say from MS is his humbleness and who he is as a person that stood out for me. How he is basically off the field, the time he has for players, for people," Brevis told AB de Villiers on his YouTube channel.
"His room door is always open. If he’s sleeping, that’s the only time it’s closed. And I found myself a few times in his room just sitting there with whatever he’s busy like chatting to him about his hobbies, watching cricket, and yeah, that’s just amazing and just to see how what he does like off the field and like everyone knows what he does on the field and at training and yeah just it’s very special,” he added.
While CSK finished last on the points table at the end of the season, Brevis impressed with his performances with the bat. The 22-year-old amassed 225 runs in six innings at a mind-boggling strike rate of 180. While reports are suggesting that CSK are looking to overhaul their squad ahead of next season, Brevis seems certain to continue with the five-time champions.
