Rishabh Pant's bat suffered a lean patch again in IPL 2025, and he was again unable to perform against Mumbai. As the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants this season, Pant was caught for a mere 4 runs in today's game, and the added pressure mounts on his shoulders. His timing and shot-selection issues were also apparent to the naked eye, and supporters were swift in lashing out in disappointment on social media. With Lucknow relying so much on their skipper's performance, Pant's repeated failures have now become a serious issue for the team in the future.

Is Pant going to drop himself?

How badly will this IPL serve for Pant’s T20 career for India? Being a keeper likely keeps him in contention, yeah?

I haven’t seen anyone as bad as Rishabh Pant. There was a time when Courtney Walsh was considered the worst batsman, but Rishabh Pant is even worse than him. #MIvsLSG

Pant's season in IPL 2025 has been nothing if not disastrous, and the agitation of both the team and his fans grows bigger with every outing. The latest disappointment came for Pant in the seventh over itself, when he got out just for 4 runs off 2 balls and scored his sixth single-digit tally this season. As one of the most feared big-hitting batsmen around in limited-over cricket, the lack of any semblance of form this season has been enigmatic.
His consistent inability to deliver has been costing LSG, who have depended on him as one of the pillars of the middle order. Adding insult to injury is Pant's total of a mere 110 runs in 10 games at a dismal average of 12.22, which highlights his continued slide. In his 8 innings thus far in IPL 2025, Pant has not been able to make any significant contribution, and his absence of contribution is increasingly proving to be harmful to LSG's prospects of advancing in the tournament.
Lucknow's Late Collapse Hands Mumbai a Comfortable Win
Mumbai Indians moved into second place after a clinical victory against Lucknow Super Giants at Wankhede. Ryan Rickelton provided MI with a flying start through a fifty off just seven deliveries, and Suryakumar Yadav sustained his magical touch to move to the top of the season's highest run-getter. Naman Dhir's handy blows and Corbin Bosch's handy blows aided Mumbai in reaching a healthy score of more than 200.
In response, lost Aiden Markram early on, and despite Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh attempting a counter-attack, they failed to capitalize on their starts. MI bowlers continued to apply pressure, with two important wickets being taken by Will Jacks, three by Trent Boult, and four by Jasprit Bumrah, who shone to take Mumbai to a resounding victory.
