Haryana gears up for October 5 assembly polls: Over 2 crore voters, 20,629 booths set

Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], September 18 (ANI): Ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections, state Chief Election Commissioner Pankaj Agrawal announced that over 2 crore voters are expected to cast their votes, with 20,629 polling booths set up.
Agrawal stated, "For the Haryana Assembly elections, voting is scheduled for October 5. The final publication of the voter list was completed on August 27, following the Election Commission's instructions. Since the last date for filing nominations was September 12, we accepted voter amendment requests in Forms 6 and 8 up to September 2. After processing them, we finalised the list on September 12, confirming that a total of 2,03,54,350 voters will participate in this election."
He further detailed that the number of male voters stands at 1,60,75,957, female voters at 95,77,926, and transgender voters at 467.
"The number of senior citizens is 2,31,093, with 8,821 centenarians. Young voters aged 18 and 19 number 5,24,514, voters with disabilities (PWD) total 1,49,142, and service voters from the forces account for 1,09,217. There are 20,629 polling booths. In the 90 Vidhan Sabha constituencies, 150 model polling stations will be established. There will be 125 booths manned by women, and 116 booths will be youth-oriented," he added.


Agrawal also mentioned that 92 booths would be managed by the PWD section.
"Haryana Police had requested 225 companies of paramilitary forces, and the Election Commission has approved the request. Seventy companies arrived on August 25 and were deployed the next day to carry out confidence-building measures. The remaining 155 companies will arrive on September 25," he said.

Voting for the 90-member Haryana Legislative Assembly is scheduled for October 5. (ANI)
