OpenAI has rolled out ChatGPT's new model, ChatGPT-5. However, users do not seem to be very satisfied with this new model. While launching the new model, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman compared it to a PhD-level expert who can answer questions related to every field. But for some reason, users are not liking this model and are posting fiercely against this model on social media.
OpenAI shuts down old models.
The biggest reason for the opposition to OpenAI's new GPT-5 model is said to be the shutdown of old models. The company has eliminated the option to use old models with the launch of the new model, which has angered people. The option to choose old models (such as GPT-4o) has been removed from ChatGPT. Now users can only use GPT-5. This change remains a matter of debate on social media and online forums. Due to this, the company's CEO, Sam Altman, is also facing opposition from users.
What are the features of GPT-5?
OpenAI claims that GPT-5 is better than older models. According to the company, it is much better in reasoning, writing, coding, accuracy, and health-related information. The most important thing is that the problem of 'hallucination' (giving wrong information) has also reduced significantly. The company says that GPT-5 comes with an 'efficient model' and a 'reasoning model'. Users do not need to choose between them, because a 'router' automatically decides which model to use for which question.
What are users saying?
After the arrival of the new model, the reactions of the users are not mixed, but mostly negative. Users on Reddit and other online forums say that GPT-5 is giving shorter and flatter answers than older models. Many people also believe that it lacks 'personality', which was in earlier versions. A ChatGPT Plus subscriber even said that they now have fewer prompts to work with.
User reactions on social media
A user on Reddit wrote, "They have completely ruined ChatGPT. It is slow, its answers are too short, and it sometimes makes mistakes in even the most basic things. It does not even pay attention to our instructions."

Another user accused the company, "They have made the answers short and direct to save money. They have eliminated the emotional intelligence of AI, because if talking to AI is not fun then people will not chat with it for hours, which will save them money. But in reality, this will sink millions of their subscriptions."
Another user said, "GPT-5 doesn't have the same 'vibe' as 4o. It's more organized in some ways, but I find its answers short and harsh."
One disappointed user even said, "I feel like I just watched a close friend die."
It's clear from these reactions that the launch of GPT-5 has become a big challenge for OpenAI. The company will have to think whether it has made a mistake by ignoring the user's preferences, or whether this change will prove beneficial in the future.
