Zoe Ball's son Woody Cook has been a pillar of support for his mum during her recent time away from the BBC Radio 2 airwaves.
The 53-year-old presenter has been absent from her show since August 8 with fans wondering where she has been. However, she was spotted this week being consoled by her ex-husband Norman Cook, also known as Fatboy Slim, sparking concern among her fans.
After taking an unexpected break from her morning radio show, Zoe has slated to make her comeback this Monday, according to the latest schedules. In the meantime, Gaby Roslin and Scott Mills have been keeping her seat warm.
Woody, 23, shared with Fatboy Slim, has now opened up to MailOnline about his bond with his mum: "My mum and I like to keep our private lives to ourselves but I will say I have stepped up and spent a lot more time with her recently as she has always been there when I've had tough times. I'm glad to see her smiling."
Meanwhile, insiders have yet to confirm Zoe's return date, stating that the station is waiting for Zoe's lead on the matter. A vague statement said she would "return later this month".
Earlier in August, while taking the reins from Zoe, Scott informed his listeners, saying: "If you set your alarm every morning to go off at 6:30am and normally Zoe comes on, please do not freak out. You have not overslept. If you've just put us on this morning, it's Scott Mills in for Zoe for the next few weeks. I'm sending you all my love Zo', as are the team.", reports Birmingham Live.
Zoe took over the morning programme in 2019 from Chris Evans, who left the BBC Radio 2 breakfast slot after eight years, and went to Virgin Radio. At the time, she was the first female host of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show in 1998, a post she held until 2000.
She also co-hosted the BBC’s Saturday morning children’s magazine Live & Kicking alongside Jamie Theakston for three years from 1996. Other projects she has presented include the BBC spin-off show Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, and ITV’s reality competition show Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream.
With an annual salary of £950,000, Zoe is the BBC's highest-paid female. Before she left the show in August, Zoe had enjoyed a holiday to Ibiza and attended Brighton Pride. She then returned to work for three days before leaving again.
