The Yorkshire Vet star 'devastated' as lamb dies on operating table after life-saving surgery

The Yorkshire Vet aired heartbreaking scenes during the latest episode when a sweet little lamb named Hope died during an operation.

The Channel 5 show, which aired on Tuesday (October 15), captured hearts as it dealt with the trials and tribulations faced by farm animals and their carers. But a particularly harrowing moment struck hard as veteran vet Rohin Aojula was left shattered.

On-screen, the lamb's life hung in the balance with a terrible wound near her legs. During efforts to save her, Rohin decided to administer an anaesthetic due to the potential pain of the surgery.

Tragically, the dosage proved too strong for little Hope, resulting in her death on the operating table. As he performed the surgery, Rohin was forced to break the sad news of Hope's death to his team. Reeling from the loss, the TV vet confessed, "I'm absolutely gutted," reports .

Rohin stood by his decision despite the heartbreaking outcome, emphasising that the anaesthetic was necessary. He later spoke about the incident, expressing his grief: "It's so devastating as that was the first lamb I've lost under anaesthetic."

The sorrow didn't end there, as Rohin soon had to check on the lamb's mother, Gloria, who was also fighting for her health, leaving the farm owners deeply concerned for her future.

Thankfully, following Rohin's expert advice, she made a remarkable recovery and was back to her old self within two weeks. One of the farmers who owns Gloria couldn't contain his joy, exclaiming: "The great news is she's really rallied! ".

Earlier this year, telly vet Rohin had to sedate an unwell pig. He warned the owner at the time: "Sedations within pigs, they're not the smoothest of sedations. I have even heard of pigs passing away with sedations, but we will do everything to make sure it goes smoothly."

In the episode, Rohin asks owner Libby to sit on Pablo, the pig's back, to ensure he doesn't get up during the procedure. A trainee vet also joined Rohin for the job and sat on Pablo's back.

She joked: "Never experienced this before, but first time for everything." The procedure was a success, with Rohin admitting it went as well as it could have done."
