The fun day out was a welcome change of pace for the busy mums, as it allowed both royal siblings to enjoy a quiet day out away from the spotlight while also celebrating their shared interest in art. The event also marked a huge milestone for the royal sisters as it was their first joint public appearance since announced the news that Beatrice was pregnant with her second child on October 1. Both the Princess and her husband share two children already, daughter Sienna, 3, and Christopher Woolf, 8, Edo’s son from a previous relationship.

Immediately after the announcement, both Princess Eugenie and her mother Sarah Ferguson were among the first people to share their warmest congratulations, with Eugenie in particular later going on to reveal just how close she was to her sibling in a touching interview.

Speaking to , Princess Eugenie revealed that: "I ring her a lot about meltdowns and what we do and this and that.” And it appears that their close bond also included asking for permission first before sharing an tribute about the exciting baby news.

"When I was Instagramming that photo, I rang her, and I was like, 'What do you want me to say?' " Eugenie explained. "She said, 'Can't wait to talk about the trials and tribulations of motherhood.’ "
