'Last chance' Disney+ warning before prices go up again tomorrow - act now

Send Push

Disney+ is raising prices again from tomorrow - and it means you only have hours left to lock in a lower price.

The Disney+ Standard plan is going up from £7.99 a month to £8.99 a month. This means over a year, you'll pay an extra £12. Meanwhile, the price of the Disney+ Premium package will increase from £10.99 a month to £12.99 a month - so this means an extra £24 more over the year.

The annual price of a Disney+ Standard plan will rise from £79.90 to £89.90, while Disney+ Premium users will see their upfront cost increase from £109.90 to £129.90. The price of the basic Disney+ Standard with Ads plan will remain the same at £4.99 a month. These price increases will kick in from October 17 for new customers, and from November 21 for existing users.

This means if you were thinking about getting Disney+ then now is the time to sign up and beat the price rise by locking into the cheaper annual subscription price. ' MoneySavingExpert.com website described this as the "last chance" to secure a lower price. The MSE team explained: "If you're a Disney+ newbie, or an existing monthly subscriber, you can sign up or switch to an annual Disney+ Standard or Premium subscription at the current price until 11.59pm on Wednesday 16 October.

"Depending on the plan you choose, this will save you either £10 or £20 upfront as a newbie (versus signing up after the deadline); or £27.98 or £45.98 over the year as an existing member (versus staying on the equivalent monthly plan)." It comes after a month extra if they share their account with friends and family.

The new charge is part of a major crackdown on password sharing - similar to that which introduced last year. Disney+ will now register the devices you use and your “primary residence” to check exactly where you’re using its service. This will be known as your “household” account.

If you try to watch Disney+ away from home then you’ll be asked to verify your subscription using a one-time passcode. This will be sent to the email that is linked to your Disney+ account. But those who are caught sharing their password with someone outside of their household will now be asked to buy a “extra member” profile.

This will cost you an extra £3.99 a month if you have a Standard with Ads plan, or an extra £4.99 a month if you have a Standard or Premium plan. This works out to be just under an extra £60 a year. This “extra member” will only be able to stream on one device at a time, and they can’t have had a Disney+ membership before.
