'I'm a fitness coach – one thing you're probably doing is stopping you from losing weight'

Shedding pounds can be a tough task, requiring a complete lifestyle overhaul in many respects.

However, one weight loss guru has issued a stark warning that "you will never lose weight" unless you "fix this one thing" and it's not related to calorie deficits or regular exercise, although both are crucial.

"So many people do this wrong every single day without even realising it", @loldarbyfit revealed on her TikTok account, aiming to highlight the issue for those striving for a healthier lifestyle.

"It's massively slowing them down and holding them back from the progress they could be making", she continued. She then detailed the common pitfall: "You've been on track all day and the afternoon comes and you end up eating a biscuit."

"Then you think 'Oh my god I'm so annoyed at myself I've absolutely ruined it now, what's the point?' and then you end up on a downward spiral for the rest of the day.

"And that means what was 5% of your day off track is now 50% of your day off track."

She urged followers to consider this "over a week". Five percent of a week will have "minimal impact on your progress".

But 50% could "have a big impact on your progress."

This leads to feelings of guilt, self-reproach over the biscuit indulgence, and the belief that you'll "never lose weight" - but she warned that with this "all or nothing mindset you probably never will."

She advised that the next time you indulge, "enjoy the biscuit, not feel guilty about it" and then consider the remainder of your day as an opportunity to get back on schedule without letting one slip lead to a tailspin.

"Weight loss isn't about being perfect, it's just about being consistent", she emphasised, suggesting that aiming for 80% consistency is the key.
