Darwin Nunez makes another U-turn amid Liverpool struggles

Liverpool's has once again tweaked his social media presence.

The Uruguayan striker has been making headlines in recent months after and then setting his account to private. This move came in response to the criticism he faced due to his performance struggles with the Reds. Currently, Nunez restricts comments on his posts, allowing only those familiar with the ex-Benfica star to comment.

However, his account now seems to be public again. Over the past week or so, Nunez has been working with Marcelo Bielsa on the international stage as Uruguay aims to bolster their World Cup qualification campaign.

On the home front, Nunez has shown flashes of brilliance but has struggled to secure a starting spot under new head coach Arne Slot, especially given Diogo Jota's strong start. Nunez has scored one goal in Slot's tenure, a potential goal-of-the-season contender in the victory over Bournemouth, where he curled a left-footed shot off the far post.

The international break was a letdown for Nunez, with Uruguay failing to score in both of their COMNEBOL section qualifiers. A 1-0 loss to Peru was followed by a goalless draw against Ecuador, leaving them third in the table, level on points with Brazil, ahead of their clash with Colombia next month.

Former Anfield ace Luis Suarez has spoken out about a poignant moment with his national teammate, Darwin Nunez, involving a tough exchange with the formidable Leeds United manager. "I saw Darwin crying, and I told him: 'You are here because of your own merit, because of how hard you work, you are a goalscorer and you are the best," he shared.

"'You have to continue like this, forget what others say. Wash your face, go out and break it'. That is why when he scored the goal, I was the first one he greeted."

Suarez felt the young striker needed nurturing rather than criticism, saying, "For me Darwin needs affection, to be supported and containment, not other things. I ran into the coach in the hallway, and he told me: 'We are not helping him with those things'."

Shocked by the manager's approach, Suarez recounted, "I was taken aback, and I told him that I had to support him. After the victory, Bielsa greeted me and said: 'Do you know what happens if I don't talk to him like that? You saw what he ran in the second half.'" To which he responded, "And I told him my part was to contain him."
