Britney Spears makes incredibly rare move of publicly speaking about sons as she shares hope

Britney Spears has wished her sons happy birthday month on Instagram.

The 42-year-old popstar and her ex-husband Kevin Federline welcomed Sean Preston on the 14th September 2005 and his brother Jayden James on the 12th September 2006 and Britney took to Instagram to share birthday wishes for both of her sons.

She posted a throwback picture of them as youngsters and wrote: "This month is my boys' birthdays !!! Happy Birthday babies and I hope you get all your wishes and more !!!"

Meanwhile, Britney is said to have been largely estranged from her boys in recent years, with their apparent falling out believed to have stemmed from their and Kevin's dismay at her raunchy Instagram posts.

Kevin told the Daily Mail in 2022 about his struggle to explain Britney's flesh-flashing social media posts to their sons.

He said: "I try to explain to them, 'Look, maybe that's just another way she tries to express herself.' But that doesn't take away from the fact of what it does to them."

"It's tough. I can't imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school."

Jayden added: "I think mom has struggled giving us both attention and showing us equal love I don't think she showed enough to Preston, and I feel really bad for that."

It was reported in May 2023 Britney had not seen her sons in more than a year and the boys had stopped answering her texts.

But in June, Kevin's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told Page Six the teens had spoken with Britney on Mother's Day, calling it a "step in the right direction" for a possible reconciliation.

After the pair split in 2006, Kevin received full custody of their children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, while the pop star was placed in a conservatorship. For the past 17 years, the Princess of Pop has been paying child support to her ex-husband and it is estimated that she gave him about $5million (£3.8million).

It has been reported that now that her younger son Jayden is 18, Britney's child support payments would cease. However, it has now emerged that this might not be the case.

According to TMZ, sources "with direct knowledge" of the child support arrangements said the payments would cease either on Jayden's 18th birthday or when he graduates high school, whichever is later. Jayden is studying in Hawaii and is set to graduate in November, which means his mother will continue paying child support for two more months, after which payments will stop, according to the publication.

TMZ also reported that the original child support payment was $20,000 (£15,236) a month but the amount went up to $40,000 (£30,473) back in 2018 as Kevin had the children almost all the time, and faced additional expenses as they got older. Britney's older son, Sean Preston, turned 18 on September 14 last year.

Amid reports that Britney's child support payments are set to end, her fans have been taking to social media to say that her ex - a former backup dancer for Justin Timberlake who now occasionally works as a DJ - will be forced to change his lifestyle, with some tweeting references to the singer's popular song "Work B---h". At the time of writing, the song, which was released 11 years ago, has reached number 34 on US iTunes as fans have been buying it in celebration of Kevin no longer receiving child support.

Kevin has six children in total - two sons with Britney Spears, a son and a daughter with ex-fiancée Shar Jackson and two daughters with Victoria Prince, whom he married in 2013, after his divorce from Britney. A fan of Britney wrote on X, formerly called Twitter: "Kevin Federline has six kids and no job just his $40,000 child support month check from Britney but today that ends. You better work b---h!"

Another tweeted: "I hope Britney Spears buys everything and anything she wants today!! Work b---h." One more added: "Good... I hope she is now able to enjoy her hard earned money for herself and whoever she choses to share it with, if she choses to share it."
