BBC Saturday Kitchen's Matt Tabbutt makes Graham Norton run away with three-word retort

Graham Norton legged it from Matt Tebbutt when the TV chef delivered a three-word retort during filming.

The much-loved chat show host, 61, graced Saturday Kitchen this weekend, where he was chatting about his new book, Frankie. Matt, 50, let slip that Frankie, the lead in Graham's yarn, happens to be quite the whizz at rustling up a bearnaise sauce.

There was a bit of confusion though, as Graham wasn't sure if the book's recipe was on point, prompting him to quiz Matt. The BBC culinary maestro found it odd without chives.

"It's a standard bearnaise recipe - without chives. That was a bit strange," Matt quipped in return.

Keen to dig deeper into the mixture, Graham enquired whether warming the butter solo was some new-fangled method, reports the Express.

"I think it's a classic thing," Matt divulged and then spoke about throwing clarified butter into the mix.

Puzzled, Graham pressed: "What is clarified butter?" Then, halfway through Matt's demo, Graham butted in again, asking: "So do you put that through the sieve then?"

Matt huffed with exasperation, proclaiming: "So many questions! " In no time, the witty Irish star skedaddled to safety behind the kitchen worktop, a look of concern etched on his face.

The anecdote comes as Matt shared his embarrassment over cursing on live BBC television, which ultimately resulted in an unexpected perk.

The celebrity chef revealed to The Independent his moment of embarrassment when he whispered under his breath that New Zealand chef Peter Gordon was "a f*****g genius", before being forced to make a remorseful apology.

"I had to apologise, I was mortified," he admitted.

Following the 2017 slip-up, Matt expressed: "Earlier in the show I may have used some bad language out of all the excitement so big apologies for that, I wasn't aware of it, I was getting carried away in the whole moment of things."

After apologising for the slip of the tongue, Matt divulged that he got a note from the 61-year-old's PA, saying: "Our website has crashed, would you like to come for lunch?"

Saturday Kitchen airs every Saturday at 10am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
