BBC Radio 1 star caught in major Lizzo blunder as he's forced to issue immediate apology

BBC Radio 1's weekend breakfast show was caught up in an awkward blunder after ending Lizzo's hit tune, Juice.

As he faded the song away to speak to his audience, radio presenter Sam MacGregor mistook Lizzo's name. "Jizzo," he exclaimed as he accidentally replaced the 'L' with a 'J'. The mishap was met with huge laughter from his co-host, Danni Diston, who couldn't help but laugh on air. He quickly tried to correct himself, embarrassingly saying to listeners and his co-host of Sam and Danni Weekend Breakfast: "Oh, sorry. Let me say that again. Ready for it? Sorry, sorry."

One user who caught the error was quick to post it to social media. Taking to Twitter/X, Scott Bryan of BBC Sounds joked: "Don't worry nobody noticed @sam__macgregor."

Taking it all in his stride, Sam joked back: "HONOURED TO MAKE IT TO A SCOTT BRYAN TWEET," before posting a crude hashtag that Scott admitted he was "cautious" to click on. Other followers were quick to joke about the mistake in the comments section, too. One wrote: "That’s lifted my whole day," while another praised co-host Danni's laugh, labelling it "brilliant".

Lizzo recently opened up on Ozempic allegations after some people refused to believe the star hadn't been on the drug during her staggering weight loss. As a user wrote on social media: "Did she use Ozempic or did she snort coke?" Lizzo replied in bold fashion. She responded to say it had taken months of weight training to get where she is today. "When you finally get Ozempic allegations after 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit," she said.

Ozempic is an injectable prescription medicine used to treat type 2 diabetes in adults that can help manage blood sugar levels. Back in May, South Park also took aim at the singer in a streaming special titled South Park: The End of Obesity. In it, the cartoon tackled the recent craze over Ozempic. Because Eric does not have diabetes, his insurance would not cover the prescription for Ozempic but was given the "Lizzo." The "Lizzo," in other words was body positivity. The "Lizzo" made people not care about how others looked or their health. Eric and others are able to eat what they want and skip exercise.
